A brief day-to-day tour itinerary for Char Dham Yatra 2025 from Delhi

Day 1: Delhi to Haridwar (240 km route, 5-6 hours driving by car)

You can start very early from Delhi and this way you can reach Haridwar by lunchtime around noon. You can use this day to explore the temples and river ghats in Haridwar and Rishikesh. In the evening do not miss the Ganga Aarti at Har ki Pauri. You can float lighted candles in the Ganga River and watch the glowing diyas illuminate the entire stretch of Ganga.

Day 2: Haridwar to Barkot (190 km route, 6-7 hours driving time by road)

Today you will reach Barkot which is a small village. We suggest you wake up early so that you will have enough time to admire the beauty of the waterfalls in Mussoorie. We will visit Kempty Waterfall and pass through the heritage town of Lakhamandal. When you reach Barkot you can start to explore the village and admire the beauty of the snow-capped Banderpoonch Mountain range.

Day 3: Barkot – Yamunotri – Barkot (36 km by driving + 6 km trek to Yamunotri Temple, both one way)

This is the day when you will visit the first Dham or temple of the Char Dham Yatra which is Yamunotri. You will have to drive from Barkot for 36 km and then there is a trek of 6 km from Janki Chatti to Yamunotri Temple. You can hire a pony or palkhi that would cost around Rs.1000 to Rs.2500. After darshan at Yamunotri Temple you will return to Barkot and spend the night here.

Day 4: Barkot to Gangotri (82 km route, 3-4 hours by driving)

You will wake up early and start driving towards Uttarkashi. This is a town which is famous for its temples. You can explore the local area in Uttarkashi and in the evening visit the Kashi Vishwanath Temple. Uttarkashi is located on the banks of the Bhagirathi River.

Day 5: Uttarkashi to Gangotri and back to Uttarkashi (100 km route. 4-5 hours driving time, one way)

Today after an early breakfast you can start your journey by road to Gangotri, which is the second temple in the Chardham Yatra circuit. This is a long route but you can make short halts to view the scenic Bhagirathi River flow parallel to the route. Along the route, you can take selfies and photographs of the mountains and Uttarakhand landscapes. Mukhba Temple comes along this route and this is the temple where the idol of Gangotri is kept during winter time. After darshan at Gangotri Temple, you will return to Uttarkashi in the evening and stay here for the night.

Day 6: Uttarkashi to Guptkashi (200 km route, 7-8 hours by driving)

Today we will start onwards and drive by car to Guptkashi. This is a temple town, which is famous for temples. In the evening we will visit the famous temples here like Vishwanath Temple and Ardh Nareshwar Temple.

Day 7: Guptkashi to Kedarnath via Sonprayag (30 km by driving + 14 km trek to Kedarnath Temple, one way)

You will drive to Sonprayag and then start your 14 km trek to Kedarnath Temple. The trek is very scenic and you will not feel any fatigue or tiredness due to the extremely scenic mountains. You can take Palki or Pony Services if you do not want to trek on foot. The darshan of Kedarnath is a blessing in itself. You can view the glaciers, snow-capped mountains, and valleys from Kedarnath Temple. You can stay here for some time and visit places that are located near the temple like Adi Shankaracharya Samadhi and Bheem Shila. After the darshan of Kedarnath, you will return to Sonprayag/ Guptkashi.

Day 8: Cab drive to Badrinath via Joshimath (200 km route, 6-7 hours driving time)

Today is going be the day when you will drive towards Badrinath, the last of the Char Dham Yatra places. You will pass through many scenic places like Karnaprayag, Nandaprayag, Joshimath, and Pandukeshwar. You must view the confluence of the river at Karnaprayag, Nandaprayag, and enjoy its views. If you have time then you can visit the famous Shri Narsingh Temple in Joshimath. This temple has magnificent architecture and the idol of Badri Vishal is bought from Badrinath and installed in this temple during winter. You can visit Badrinath Temple in the evening after you arrive in the town of Badrinath.

Day 9: Badrinath – Joshimath – Rudraprayag (150 km route, 5-6 hours driving)

You will have the darshan of Badri Vishal at Badrinath Temple in the morning. Then have a tour of Mana Village, Ganesh Gufa, Vyas Gufa, and other places nearby. Now drive towards Rudraprayag and stay here for the night.

Day 10: Rudraprayag to Haridwar (160 km route, 4-5 hours driving time)

Today you will drive to Haridwar/ Rishikesh from Rudraprayag. In the evening you can do some sightseeing in Haridwar.

Day 11: Haridwar to Delhi (222 km, 4 hours)

This is the final day of this Char Dham Yatra 2025 Package from Delhi. You will drive by car from Haridwar to Delhi.

Where to stay during Char Dham Yatra?

  • Accommodation in Gangotri: You will find good hotels and guest houses in Uttarkashi, which comes on the Gangotri route. Camps and tents are also available.
  • Accommodation in Yamunotri: There is limited lodging in Yamunotri, but you can stay in Barkot, Hanuman Chatti, and Janki Chatti.
  • Accommodation in Kedarnath: You can stay in Guptkashi or Rudraprayag which are near Kedarnath. You will also find good accommodation in Phata, Ukhimath, Sitapur, Chandrapur, and Agastmuni.
  • Accommodation in Badrinath: Joshimath and Govindghat have some good hotels and so has Badrinath.
